Easter Dinner at Salvation Army, Belkin House
April 4, 2016
This Easter long weekend the Doze Day volunteering team had the privilege to pair with the Salvation Army at the Belkin House for a day of learning, giving and laughing. The Doze Day team was given the opportunity to tour parts of the 40,000 square foot Belkin House ranging from a rooftop garden where fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables are currently being grown to exploring different rooms such as a cathedral offering church services, a learning room and a computer lab to name a few. The highlight of the evening was definitely the number volunteers who showed up for our community, ready and willing to give back to those less fortunate. We spend the afternoon in the kitchen preparing everything from roasted turkey and mashed potatoes to a mouth watering strawberry cheesecake! We learned how to cook for large groups meanwhile, connecting with one another and working in harmony. Once the food was hot and ready, we were able to serve the residences and with love and gratitude for all the blessing each one of us share. Between the Savlation Army Belkin House, the Doze Day Team, and all the residences, we left with unforgettable memories. Thank you to all those who were contributed their time and resources to make this such a wonderful holiday season!
