a word from some of our Dozē Goers
July 31, 2013
Just in a word from a couple of our volunteers from our latest Dozē Day with Evergreen! Thanks again for making it out!
Working with a shovel felt so primal, and peaceful. Doing it for the park, not for yourself, knowing that little by little, volunteers like us, will make a difference, improve the environment, make the city a better place, even if just a little bit—that's the real reward in this whole experience. I learned that there's nothing more inspiring than enjoying the company of good people, that the Himalayan blackberry is one tough plant and that whoever named the weeds had quite a sense of humour: Policeman's Helmet? Morning Glory? Hmm… But seriously, thank you again for organizing this event. I will definitely participate in the future.
Feeling inspired for sure! This was my first volunteer experience EVER (I know) and it was educational and rewarding at the same time. Feels great to do something that is helpful for our local environment, learning about the effects our daily actions have to our surroundings that was never really considered before and doing it while meeting new people! Hope to see this great group grow and I'd love to be a part of more events Awesome to be able to do something that is not only beneficial for ourselves. Yay.
