The Surfrider Foundation is a global environmental non-profit organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of oceans, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network. SRF are more than just surfers. They are a community of beach and ocean enthusiasts who share a common vision of healthy and accessible oceans and coastlines, for now and for generations to come. Surfrider plays an active role in the Vancouver community through outreach and education programs. We create opportunities for activism on issues of ocean and coastal pollution.
The Salvation Army Belkin House is a Residential Program Facility in the heart of Vancouver dedicated to "Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness". Revera is a provider of seniors’ accommodation, care and services. Their mission is to help their clients live their lives to the fullest. They offer accommodation, care and services that suit individual needs and preferences. They have created a vibrant retirement community, offering choices that enable their residents and clients to continue to be their best.
The Street Store is the world’s first rent-free, premises-free, free “pop-up clothing store” for the poor, found entirely on the street and curated by the public. Their mission is to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor. Making it easier to donate. And more dignified to receive.
East Van Roasters is a social enterprise program of the PHS Community Services Society. It's mandate is to provide training and support to women residents of the Rainier Hotel in a dignified work environment. EVR creates organic bean-to-bar chocolate and roasts coffee in it's tiny little shop in the DTES of Vancouver.
Karma Teachers is a center for yoga and meditation that offers by donation or free yoga in the Down Town East Side community to help enhance the lives of people, especially to those groups that might not otherwise have an opportunity to participate in yoga classes. The center is lovingly run by a collective of yoga teachers committed to selfless action and to giving back to the community.
Hives for Humanity is a non-profit organization that encourages community connections through apiculture, more commonly known as beekeeping. Through mentorship based programming we create opportunities for people from all backgrounds to connect to nature and each other, benefit from the therapeutic benefits that beekeeping has to offer, participate in local sustainable markets, and help support local bee populations.
